Celebrating Talent: Highlights from the 2025 Zephyrs Student Recital
On Saturday, 21 June 2025, Zephyrs proudly hosted our Midsummer Student Recital at our recital studio. The event showcased the incredible talents of our students, featuring a diverse program that delighted the audience from start to finish.
Highlights of the Recital
Act One: Summer Serenades of Childhood
The recital began with Act One, performed by our junior students. This charming selection of childhood favorites included notable pieces such as:
- “A Little Song” by D.B. Kabalevsky
- “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” (a beloved nursery rhyme)
- “Long, Long Ago” by Thomas Haynes Bailey
These delightful performances captivated the audience and evoked memories of simpler times.
Act Two: Traditions Under the Sun
The second act was performed by our more senior students, who presented a celebration of global musical traditions. The audience enjoyed a beautiful selection of pieces, including:
- “Sakura,” a traditional Japanese melody
- “Neapolitan Song, Op. 39 No. 18” by Tchaikovsky
- “Consolation No 3: Lento Placido” by Franz Liszt
This act highlighted various cultural influences and showcased the elegance of traditional melodies.
Act Three: Dreamy Summer Escapes
The third act focused on ensemble playing, featuring collaborations between teachers and students. Notable pieces included:
- “Morning” from Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite
- A flute quartet performance of “A Whole New World” from Aladdin
- A piano duet of “This Side of Paradise,” showcasing the harmony and coordination between the performers
These engaging performances highlighted the joy of music-making together and immersed the audience in a delightful atmosphere of collaboration and creativity.
Act Four: Classic Summer Reveries
The recital concluded with a celebration of classic melodies performed by the teachers of Zephyrs. Notable performances included:
- A medley of “My Favorite Things” and “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music
- “Die With a Smile,” a pop tune which added a contemporary flair to the program
- “Mission: Impossible” by Lalo Schifrin
Energetic performances which left a lasting impression among the audience.
The 2025 Student Recital was a resounding success, showcasing the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, and staff.
