Participate in the 78th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival 2026

The upcoming 78th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival 2026 is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their musical talents and engage in a vibrant community of young musicians. Registration to participate in the Music Festival is from 29 September 2025 to 28 October 2025.

Why Participate?

Participating in the Music Festival offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Skill Development: Students will enhance their musical abilities through preparation and performance, learning valuable techniques and stage presence.
  • Confidence Building: Performing in front of an audience helps to build self-esteem and public presentation skills, valuable in all areas of life.
  • Creative Expression: This festival provides a platform for students to express themselves artistically, encouraging originality and personal interpretation of music.
  • Feedback from Professionals: Students will receive constructive feedback from judges, helping them to grow and improve as musicians.

We encourage all students to take part in this enriching experience. 

Festival Details

  • Modes of Participation:
    • Live Competition Mode: Students can perform in person, competing against peers from various schools. (Competition period: 2 March to 1 April 2026)
    • Video Submission Mode: For those who participate in selected Classes conducted in video submission mode, record their performances and have them graded. (Video submission between 21 to 27 January 2026)

What Students Need to Do

Students are required to perform a piece of music based on a selected category.  Here are the steps they should follow:

  1. Select a Category (“Class”) and/or piece: Discuss with our teachers and choose a performance category/piece that aligns with their musical strengths, interests or age.
  2. Prepare the Performance: Attend regular lessons and practice regularly to ensure a polished and confident performance.  
  3. Participate in a Trial Run Performance Recital: Students should take advantage of our Trial Run Performance Recital to gain experience and receive feedback.
  4. Submit Video (if applicable): For those participating in the Video Submission Mode competition, record and submit best take of their performance.

Registration Information

Students can register through their own schools or through Zephyrs Music Conservatoire. The fees associated with registration are as follows:

  • Festival Entry Fee: Charged by the Festival Association (amount varies based on category, generally $350 for instrumental solo Classes).
  • Zephyrs Coordination Fee (on top of Festivals Registration Fee):
    • Standard coordination: $250
    • Standard coordination and recording (for Video Submission Mode): $500

Zephyrs Coordination Fee cover essential costs, including:

  • Registration for students
  • Correspondence with the Festival Association and parents
  • Collection of physical paper results and certificates
  • Participation in our Trial Run Performance Recital at Zephyrs Music Conservatoire (date and time to be confirmed)
    • Submission Mode: Early January 2026
    • Live Competition Mode: Early February 2026
  • Video recording costs for those participating in competitions in the Video Submission Mode (recordings can be done multiple times, subject to the availability of our recital room and grand pianos) 

Notes:

  • Piano accompaniment fees are not included in the coordination fees.
  • Participation fees for Trial Run Performance Recital for students registered through their schools will be announced at a later date.
