Our Teachers

Michelle Lai (Piano)

Michelle began her piano training at the age of seven and has since built a fulfilling career in music. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honors from Kingston University in London.  She then obtained her Master’s degree in piano accompaniment at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Michelle also holds a Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in Piano.

Currently, Michelle serves as a music diploma course tutor, piano accompanist, and exam juror at the Hong Kong International Institute of Music.

Miriam Kong (Piano)

Miriam holds a Licentiate Performance Diploma (LTCL) in Piano from Trinity College London and brings over 30 years of experience in teaching and piano accompaniment. She has taught students of all ages, from 3 years old to adults, at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

With a passion for sharing her musical expertise, Miriam tailors each lesson to meet the individual needs and abilities of her students, ensuring a personalized and engaging learning experience.

Tinky Wong (Piano and Flute)

Tinky holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from HuaQiao University, specializing in piano, and was awarded Distinction in LTCL in Piano Performance and AMusTCL, Diploma in Music Theory.

Currently, she teaches flute and piano at both primary and secondary schools, offering lessons to students of all ages—from beginners to advanced levels—for over 15 years. Passionate about sharing her musical experience, Tinky tailors each lesson to meet the unique needs and abilities of her students.

Kenny Chu (Piano)

Kenny is a talented pianist and excels in both teaching and live accompaniment.  He holds a Master of Arts in Music Performance from Bangor University, where he achieved Distinction grades.

Kenny’s career includes roles as an instrumental tutor and music director, guiding students through music theory and instrument playing. His ability to foster strong relationships with students and colleagues has been key to his success in various musical settings, including choral accompaniment and special event performances.

Vanessa Chan (Piano and Vocal)

Graduated from Hong Kong University in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, Vanessa has a solid background in Music Education, having studied piano with Emeritus Professor Edward Ho, an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Wong Tak Lun.  Vanessa has taught in the UK, Canada, and Hong Kong.

Her students have received awards in piano, vocal, and instrument competitions. She tutors the HK Children’s Choir and provides music lessons for individuals and groups of all ages.

Cheng Chieh Yun (Double Bass and Piano)

Chieh Yun graduated from the Paris Conservatory in 2021, majoring in double bass and Baroque music, with minors in piano and music theory.

She has played in various orchestra including Orchestre Colonne, Ensemble Royal De Paris, and Orchestra de La Francophonie.  Currently she is a musician with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Chieh Yun has 7 years of piano and double bass teaching experience, skilled at guiding students and tailoring instruction to individual needs.

Ada Lau (Violin and Viola)

Ada is a music teacher passionate about performance and education. She holds an Associate of Arts degree from the College Of International Education, Hong Kong, concentrating in Music Studies. Since November 2022, she has been teaching at the Hope Through Music Children’s String Orchestra, honing performance skills and teaching experience.

Holding a Licentiate of Trinity College London Violin and an Associate of Trinity College London Viola, Ada was a member in various orchestras including the HKBU Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Orchestra, and Hong Kong Southern District Orchestra. 

Poh Tiong Wee (Flute)

Tiong Wee is the Music Director of Zephyrs Music Conservatoire, with over 15 years of teaching experience. He began his musical journey early, studying under renowned flautist Huang Shao Jiang and has attained the Diploma of the Associated Board of Royal School of Music. He had served as principal flautist with the Singapore Lyric Theatre Orchestra and Philharmonic Winds.

He has toured and performed internationally in Australia, Holland and the United Kingdom.

Kelvin Chan King Wing (Flute)

Kelvin studied the flute with Oliver Gehrung in Germany; with Dianne Aitken and Robert Aitken at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada; and with Pierre-Yves Artaud, Couix Yoann and Chantal De Buchy at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in France.

He was a member of “The Flute Quartet”. They had performed at the Czech Centre, Mayor of the 8th district of Paris and The National Assembly of France.

Kelvin dedicates himself in nurturing young flute players, fostering love for music and mastering the flute in confidence.

Siu Yeung Yiu (Flute)

Yeung Yiu is a flute teacher who has attained the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) of flute performance. He was also the flute and piccolo player in Hong Kong Festival Orchestra, Hong Kong Pop Orchestra and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Broadening students’ horizons is one of his main objective in teaching. He looks forward to inspiring young musicians with his interesting disposition. Students experience an all-round development under his mentorship.

Iris Shiu (Piano and Flute)

Iris is a dedicated musician who studied at the Hong Kong School of Sacred Music and holds various qualifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in piano, flute, and music theory.

With a deep passion for choral music, Iris has been an active member of the Hong Kong Oratorio Society and the Hong Kong Bach Choir. She conducts church choirs and performs as a soloist, choral singer, and piano accompanist, showcasing her versatility and commitment to enriching the musical community.

Lucia Ho (Clarinet)

Lucia holds a Master Degree of Music from Purchase College, State University of New York, and a Bachelor Degree of Music from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. With extensive teaching experience, Lucia focuses on practical techniques and performance preparation for students of all ages.

Active in orchestral performances and music festivals, she has showcased her talent in various events. Lucia is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of musicians through her teaching.

Dr. Koh Chee Kang (Clarinet)

Dr. Koh is a music educator, clarinetist, and conductor with a Doctorate in Music Education from the University of Illinois. He has a LTCL Clarinet diploma from Trinity College London and has performed globally as principal clarinetist with ensembles like the Singapore Youth Orchestra. 

With experience leading school and community bands in Singapore, the U.S., Hong Kong and Shenzhen China, he has lectured at the Shanghai Conservatory and judged the Taiwan International Band Festival. Dr Koh is dedicated to inspiring students through his expertise and passion for music.

Keith Wong (Guitar)

As a performer and educator, Keith collaborates with various organizations, including the Hong Kong Education Bureau and TVB, and teaches at the Community Engagement & Outreach Academy at EdUHK. He has performed internationally in countries such as the USA, Switzerland, and China and has received various awards for his musical achievements.
Keith is dedicated to inspiring students and audiences through his passion for music.

Selina Chu (Vocal)

Selina graduated from the University of London in voice performance and historical musicology, studying under Ann O’Brien, Howard Milner, and Alexander Ivashkin. She performed as a guest soloist with the Repton Music Society and at Deptford Town Hall.

Active as a singer and teacher, Selina dedicates time to research singing techniques and promotes choral activities. She founded Cantabile Hong Kong and advises various choirs and dance groups.

Perry So (Piano, Saxophone and Trombone)

Perry earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the Hong Kong Baptist University and Master of Arts in Composition degree at the City University of London. He holds FRSM in piano performance and ATCL in both trombone and saxophone performance.

Currently, Perry serves as the tenor saxophonist at Tak Ming Philharmonic Winds and work actively as a music tutor.

Marcus Lee (Trumpet and Euphonium)

Graduated with an Associate Degree in Music at the Hong Kong Baptist University, Marcus also hold various music qualifications including an Associate Diploma of the London College of Music in trumpet. Marcus has taught trumpet and euphonium at a primary school. He is known for his strong foundational knowledge of brass playing techniques, patience in teaching and genuine desire to help young players learn and develop their playing skills.

Raymond Lai (Trombone)

Raymond is currently studying trombone at the Hong Kong Academy of Performance Arts. Passionate about orchestral and solo music, he aims to inspire students in their musical journeys with an engaging teaching style that blends technique and creativity.

Teaching in various primary and secondary schools, Raymond is committed to fostering a vibrant musical community, Raymond promotes teamwork and effective communication among his students, believing a supportive environment is essential for artistic growth.
